Staircase In the Woods

The plot has been done before.

A group of misfit kids banding together (one for all and all for one) to survive the childhood only to face unexplainable trauma that breaks the bond. We meet them while they are being summoned back from their not less tortured adulthoods by a friend who stayed behind.

The horrors continue, forcing them to face their own fears and past experiences and learn more about each other. The book ends on the cautious note that friendship may be able to conquer everything.

Throw in masquerading malevolent presence and a dazzling menagerie of dead people, blood and hallucinations and we are describing Loser’s Club in Steven King’s IT.

Instead of occupying the sewers, the horrors live on top of the staircase in the woods - another well known plot of creepypasta and scary digital stories.

Walking up the stairs in the woods is foolish and despite familiar plots and parallels, the book takes a creative stab at imagining what may happen. The attempt works well in holding attention, making for an entertaining read.
